Visit to 33rd Surajkund Craft Mela

VISIT TO 33RD SURAJKUND CRAFT MELA
Marketing Club, Inmantec Business School, conducted an educational visit to 33rd ‘Surajkund International Crafts Mela’ on 12th February, 2019 with students of management under guidance of faculty members (Prof Rekha Prasad and Prof. Jan Surya Sharma). The students enjoyed and learned about importance, richness and diversity of the handicrafts, handlooms and cultural fabric including, performing arts, cuisine, flora and fauna of India.
The Mela is organized by the Surajkund Mela Authority & Haryana Tourism in collaboration with Union Ministries of Tourism, Textiles, Culture and External Affairs. The theme state this year was Maharashtra.
The product profile showed huge potential for home decoration, home furnishings, home textiles, Woodcraft, furniture, accessories, decorative, and all kind of made ups from different parts of our country and overseas crafts from Thailand, Holland, Turkey and many African. H extended invitation to new buyers from overseas and upcoming markets to source their supplies from India.
The visit to the fair not only helped the students to study the diverse and rich art, craft and textile heritage of the country such as jute, wood, clay work, famous handicrafts of different States etc. but also got an opportunity to interact with the crafts persons from all over India.
The students are preparing a project on “Surajkund Mela” and will be giving a presentation of this visit.
